In 2020, my mom was forced to retire from her career as a school teacher. In 2022, my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. By this time, I had gotten frustrated with submitting to 100's of literary agents and publishers. After hundreds of book submissions hoping to get a published deal, I was met with the words "I'm not interested" each time. My dreams of being an author were on the shelf until further notice.
As my mom's Alzheimer's progressed, we needed immediate help with day to day tasks. We found a facility at a Senior Home that I was excited about. The staff was friendly and the senior tenants were extremely active however the cost was out of this world. In addition, they did not allow my mom to keep Fred but this was our only option considering quality and budget. We have struggled to keep up with payments as it is so expensive. I've decided to launch my book as a means of paying for my mother's Senior Home and hopefully moving her to a new home with care so that she can reunite with her family and Fred.
